Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

In 1946 Pablo Picasso made a visit to the annual potters exhibition in Vallauris, France.  There he befriended Suzanne and Georges Ramie of the Madoura Pottery workshop, who welcomed the artist to their medium and studio.  He left after one day with two pieces drying and baking.  He returned the following year to revisit his work and found them in excellent condition.  From that moment Pablo Picasso created thousands of ceramic pieces between 1947 and 1971.  Under the advice of Suzanne, Picasso was able to transpose his genius for graphic art into ceramic reality.
